Different Types Of Chronograph Watches You Must Know About
Watch
is one of the trendiest accessories that any man or woman can own. They are not
only great for formal settings but also for parties and other informal events.
Slowly, the watches evolved and a new wave caught the people which are
popularly known as chronograph watch. The sub-dials inside a big one make a
must-have piece for not only watch enthusiasts but for anyone in general. It is
quite easy to learn how to use
chronograph watch only after you know what kind of chronograph
your watch supports. Confused? The chronograph is not just limited to one style
but many and in this article, we will learn what are these different types.
Mono-Pusher
Chronographs
Mono-Pusher,
or single push, chronograph, as the name explains features one pusher,
typically found as an extra button on top of the crown. This one pusher starts,
stops and resets the chronograph.
When you measure wrist for watch and buy a mono-pusher chronograph
watch, you will notice that it supports a clean design since the pusher extends
from the crown. In such watches, there will be two sub-dials, one will count
minutes and the other one will run the seconds.
Rattrapante
Chronographs
Rattrapante
means “to catch up” in French and it is a particularly complex chronograph
design to create. In this, instead of one, two central second hands are
featured. Just like most of the chronograph design, rattrapante chronographs
also support two pushers in addition to the crown. But it also has an additional
pusher positioned at 10 o’clock. In some watches, the extra pusher is built
into the crown like in mono-pusher. You might find it a little hard to
learn how to use a chronograph in
this particular watch.
When
you use the chronograph in this watch, both seconds hands start tracking
together. When the extra pusher is pressed, the lower seconds hand stops. If
you will press the same extra pusher again, the stopped hand will start running
again, catching up with the other one that is already working. With this type
of watch, you can record multiple times that start together but doesn’t end
together.
Flyback
Chronographs
Want
to time consecutive events with one watch that you purchased after determining
the watch
size for wrist? For this particular purpose, flyback chronographs
will come in handy. In this, there are two pushers positioned at 2 o’clock and
4 ‘clock. The pusher that you see at 2 o’clock will start and stop the
chronograph. What makes this particular chronograph different from the others
is that you can reset the sub-dials without stopping. You can further press the
pusher at 4 o’clock while the chronograph is working to stop, reset and start
again.
